The Rotterdam Liquid Hydrogen Facility is a key Air Products project that strengthens and modernizes the company’s existing hydrogen footprint in the Netherlands. Located in the Port of Rotterdam, the facility will become the largest liquid hydrogen production plant in Europe when it enters operation in 2027, further reinforcing Rotterdam’s role as a leading energy and hydrogen hub.
Already at an advanced stage of construction, the Liquid Hydrogen Facility marks an important step in expanding Air Products’ liquid hydrogen capabilities across Europe. It will enhance supply flexibility for customers across the Benelux region, France, Germany and the United Kingdom and further strengthen the company’s liquid hydrogen supply platform in the region.
The facility builds on Air Products’ long-established presence in Rotterdam and will be fully integrated into the company’s existing hydrogen production, logistics and distribution network. Hydrogen supplied from multiple production sources in the Rotterdam industrial cluster will be processed and distributed through Air Products’ established infrastructure across Europe.
Designed to meet growing demand, the facility will serve a wide range of industries, including electronics manufacturing, industrial processing, aerospace applications, emerging energy sectors and transport applications. By converting hydrogen into liquid form, it enables efficient transportation over longer distances and supports reliable supply for existing and future customer needs.
