Fountain Fuel is building a network of zero-emission energy stations that combine hydrogen refueling with electric charging.

Geopolitical dependency, security of supply, a changing climate, and rising prosperity for more and more people make the energy transition inevitable. Hydrogen plays an essential role in this process. Given the growing number of vehicles, the use of hydrogen in mobility proves to be both feasible and scalable, while also providing a boost to the entire hydrogen economy.

Fountain Fuel focuses on providing infrastructure for zero-emission mobility. Hydrogen mobility complements electric charging; this combination offers the best of both worlds for our customers while also optimizing the energy system on a broader scale—benefiting grid stability, energy storage, and the efficient use of space and economic resources. Hydrogen refueling and electric charging go hand in hand. While electric charging currently has a head start over hydrogen refueling, it also faces limitations. Demand for hydrogen in mobility is rising, driven by factors such as grid congestion and the increasing cost of fossil fuels at the pump. The “chicken-and-egg” dilemma has been resolved, paving the way for the next phase. Hydrogen is no longer a concept for the future; as of 2026, it is a tangible, present-day reality. Fountain Fuel has established a dominant position in the Netherlands and now aims to grow at a prudent pace. With the first Fountain Fuel stations already operational in Amersfoort, Rotterdam, and Nijmegen, we have successfully overcome the chicken-and-egg dilemma.

We are building on our success by enhancing the capacity and utilization rates of our stations, with plans to expand to 11 Fountain Fuel locations by 2030. Our growth is aligned with the increasing adoption of hydrogen vehicles, particularly trucks and delivery vans. With a higher utilization rate at our stations, we can accelerate the development of various locations.
