Power2X is an emerging industrial company focused on the production of hydrogen and clean molecules in Northwest Europe. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Amsterdam, the company develops industrial-scale projects across green hydrogen, renewable methanol and eSAF, synthetic sustainable aviation fuel, serving customers in the (petro)chemical and steel industries as well as aviation.
The acquisition of hydrogen developer HyCC in 2026 added several green hydrogen projects in the Netherlands to the portfolio. A key project in the company’s hydrogen portfolio is Djewels, a 20 MW green hydrogen plant at Chemical Park Delfzijl in Groningen. Power2X took Final Investment Decision and Notice to Proceed. Permits are in place and construction is planned to start in late 2026.
The facility will produce approximately 2,000 tonnes of green hydrogen a year for industrial customers in the region. Djewels uses advanced pressurized alkaline electrolysis technology from John Cockerill, delivered by EPC contractor Rely, a joint venture of Technip Energies and John Cockerill. The technology produces hydrogen at higher pressure and current density, improving efficiency and reducing the footprint and cost of future industrial-scale plants. Located in one of the Netherlands’ key industrial clusters and directly connected to Nobian’s facilities, Djewels will contribute to the decarbonisation of industry while supporting the development of a competitive hydrogen economy.
Supported by regional, national and European funding programmes, the project represents an important step in scaling renewable hydrogen production and strengthening the Netherlands’ position as a leading European hydrogen hub.
In addition to its hydrogen portfolio, the company is advancing eFuels Rotterdam, which is expected to become Europe’s largest e-SAF facility, producing more than 250,000 tonnes per year of sustainable aviation fuel and contributing significantly to the ReFuelEU Aviation targets.
